Clinic Manager, Luz Rivera, featured in Americares 2021 Annual Report

Updated: Aug 2, 2022

Our clinic manager (formerly titled clinical coordinator), Luz Rivera, was quoted in the 2021 annual report for Americares.

Americares is one of numerous healthcare organizations the Free Clinic partners with to bring quality healthcare services, at no-cost, to our patients in need.

Americares, much like the Free Clinic, works to improve health outcomes for patients and communities. Americares increases accessibility, availability, affordability and acceptability of medicine and supplies for partner health providers. Their goal is medicine security, where every clinic, health worker and patient in a community has reliable, equitable access to needed medicines and medical supplies.

This year, Americares reached 64 countries, 50 U.S. states and three U.S. territories: The Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. We are very fortunate to have such partners.

After participating in a mental health training hosted by Americares, Rivera's response to the training was featured on the Americares website in the form of an audio clip with transcription. A quote from this audio response was used in their annual report, pictured below.

We're both thankful and proud to have such empathetic staff and volunteers with a willingness to expand their knowledge. Rivera has worked for the clinic since March 2016 and has worked tirelessly to improve quality of care and increase the number of services offered at the Free Clinic. Many of our student volunteers cite Rivera as a mother-figure and a safe, fun individual to work alongside.
